May 24, 1960 - April 24, 2024

Kevin Guy was born May 24, 1960 to Harold and Verna (Williams) Guy in Pueblo Colorado.

He passed away April 24, 2024 with his wife, kids, and grandchildren surrounding him.

Kevin lived in many places before his family ended up making Yuma their forever home. He started school in Rocky Ford, then moved to Leadville for junior high and started high school. He finished his Junior and Senior year at Yuma High School graduating in 1978.

Kevin was the jack of all trades and had worked many jobs.  He started by working at a filling station, two years on a harvest crew and Korf’s as a detailer.  He then went into the farming fertilizer business. He started with Northeast Fertilizer which changed to Cargill where he worked many years as a sprayer. He then became the manager of Wray M&M Coop, which also changed to CHS. He was able to come back to work in Yuma where he ran the dry plant, filling and driving trucks, and making sure that all the farmers were taken care of.

He married his forever love Kathleen (Furrow) Guy November 16, 1990. He met her while working for Kathy’s father as part of his harvest crew. Kevin became the stepfather, that many kids would love to have to Kimberly, Toby, and Amy. On November 27, 1991 Kevin and Kathy welcomed a baby girl Rebecca Mae Guy to complete their family.

Kevin was an outdoors man at heart. He loved packing up Becky and going fishing and camping. Every Father’s Day was their special day to go to Stalker Lake in Wray.  They would get in the small boat and spend the whole day fishing.  He always dreamed of being able to retire to go to Alaska with Kathy.  He wanted them to fish and enjoy the Alaskan air and the quiet of the wide openness, or go to the mountains, taking his camper to spend a week camping. Kevin was also great at wood working. He made his daughter a shelf with her name engraved in it. In high school he made a bookshelf and many other projects.

Kevin was the kind of father that would drop everything if one of his kids called. We always knew that whatever we needed dad was only one call away and he was there in minutes. His grandkids were the light of his life. He was famous for taking the kids outside and giving them a board with screws and a drill to play with or helping them make a cake. In the summer the kids would tell Papa it was time for smores. The kids liked Papa babysitting, whatever they wanted Papa was on it. He was a man of few words, but we knew that we were so loved by him always.

Kevin is proceeded in death by parents Harold and Verna Guy, Stepson Toby McCreath, Father and Mother-in-law Milton and Betty Furrow and Son-in-law Jason Meier.

He is survived by wife Kathy Guy, daughter Rebecca, daughter Kimberly Meier, daughter Amy (Juan) Mendoza. Grandchildren Trevor Meier, Chase McCreath, Heidi Meier, Cheyanne McCreath, Elizabeth Mendoza, Caden McCreath, Kinsley Mendoza, and Brayden Mendoza. Brother Doug (Dawn) Guy, and sister Melinda (Robin) Echler.

You are so loved and missed.
